Fillers’ Feedback “ 34 Spray March 2014 ” 2014 Directory of Contract The contract filler industry had a lot of good news to report in the past 12 months. ST&M asked fillers to tell us what was new at their home base, and reports were very positive. Precise Packaging, LLC of Fall River, MA added a third aerosol line in 2013. Precise will expand lab space and capabilities, increase liquid filling capacity and increase storage of raw materials in 2014. Aerofil Technology Inc. of Sullivan, MO reported that it has implemented the Lean Manufacturing process. Custom-Pak Products Inc. of Germantown, WI added DME propellant filling capability last year. Cospro Development Corp. of Reading, PA now offers bag-on-valve filling and custom formulations for all types of personal products. They are also FDA registered with a drug handler number to manage all monographed OTC ingredients. New to ST&M’s Fillers Directory in 2014 is Automobile Chemicals Ltd. of Szeged, Hungary. It specializes in private label production and small scale, flexible sizes. It fills air conditioner cleaners, air fresheners for car and home, special winter products and technical aerosol sprays from 40mL to 750mL. Private label or blank production is available starting from 300 pieces per type. Air Fresh Bombs from Automobile use in vehicles or homes. Chemicals Ltd. are formulated for High prices and long lead times for raw materials and packaging force us to purchase from China.– U.S. Northeast 2013 was an OK year. 2014 is expected to be our biggest year since 2009, thanks to the acquisition of a handful of large accounts.– U.S. Midwest We had a good year in 2013. Expectations are OK.–Mexico We and our customers enjoyed significant growth in 2013 and are forecasted for continued success in 2014. –U.S. Mid-Atlantic Region It was not a good year for contract fillers because raw material prices keep going up…it was impossible for industry to pass these increases to clients.–Brazil 2013 was a decent year. 2014 will have regulatory and health care challenges making it hard to estimate–U.S. Southwest 2013 was a very successful year for our company as our turnover increased 20%. Raw material prices didn’t affect our results, as they are mostly stagnant and are quite the same for producers. We rely on flexibility, small scale production and specialization in private label products. However, the Hungarian government recently imposed new, restrictive regulations for every lubricant product. This has created chaos among aerosol producers and importers, destabilizing the entire domestic market at the moment. Our company focuses on export sales in order to escape from the shrinking local market.–Hungary 2013 was a solid year for contract fillers. 2014 should prove to be another solid year as many customers are continuing upward growth, as opposed to the decline seen in years past. The greatest challenge to us has been the impact of more stringent regulatory demands from California and global harmonization. We have also seen chemical price hikes over the last few months with no relief in sight. U.S. Midwest 2013 was very good!- Brazil 2013 was a great year. The biggest challenge in the coming years will be government regulatory changes. The cost of raw materials is always a problem, as most of the increases cannot be controlled and you do not know when they will be coming. –U.S. South
