Beacon Launches EVAC Jr. Can Crusher March 2014 Spray 27 Beacon Engineering of Jasper, GA, designer and manufacturer of production machinery for the aerosol industry since 1978, has developed and placed into production the EVAC Jr., an affordable can crusher with automatic feeding. This latest version follows in the footsteps of the EVAC I and EVAC II. According to Beacon, the compact machine is equipped with a hydraulic power system and carbon filtration. Test results show more than 95% capture and containment of gases and liquids. Cans move from a feed table into a pre-loader where they are uprighted and then automatically fed into a hermetically sealed compaction cylinder. Contents flow through hydraulic hoses into a storage tank at which time gases are vented to filtration, incinerated or reused. Compacted cans are suitable for recycling or safe disposal. The EVAC Jr. condenses cans to 1/2" wafers at a rate of 250 cans per hour. A hydraulic powered 24" exhaust fan safely removes separated propellant and concentrate air and vapors from the recyclable can. The propellant can then be removed as a gas or liquefied for use as a fuel, recycling or disposal. The only electrical requirement is the explosion-proof motor on the power unit. All other controls are pneumatic.
