What's Up Down Under... Aerosol Association of Australia turns 50, hosts global event. In March 1964, the inaugural meeting of the Aerosol Association of Australia was held in Melbourne, Australia to discuss increasing quality and safety standards in the then rapidly developing aerosol industry. Fifty years later, the Association is still going strong and Association President John Bigley noted that the need for a unified industry voice, consistent quality and safety standards, and regulatory knowledge and compliance make it just as relevant today as it was in 1964. “We are not sitting back and reflecting on our past achievements,” Bigley said. “The Association remains focused on delivering real value to our members and ensuring we remain the authoritative voice on all aspects of aerosol manufacture, filling and use in Australia. 16 Spray March 2014 “In the past, initiatives such as the Association’s public awareness campaigns on recycling and environmental issues achieved global recognition,” he continued. “Today, our initiatives in training and in engaging proactively with our Asian neighbors are attracting strong regional interest and support. We continue to demonstrate how an industry association can take the lead in ensuring a strategic response to the challenges and opportunities facing local manufacturers.” To mark the anniversary, the Association is releasing a series of e-cards that reflect on specific milestones and demonstrate how the Association has served the Australian aerosol industry in the past and intends to ensure a sustainable future.
