Spray Patterns BY AVA CARIDAD Editorial Director Sherwin-Williams recently presented its Certified Supplier Award to Ball Corp. for achieving the highest level of excellence in meeting Sherwin-Williams’ Purchasing Center of Excellence Supplier Performance Criteria. The annual award also recognizes Ball’s demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement. Ball Corp. also won a Unilever Partner to Win Award for Winning Capacity & Capability Building at Unilever’s 4th Partner to Win supplier summit in London, UK. Ball was recognized for investing in its global facilities to support Unilever’s growing needs. L’Oréal USA is the first company in the U.S. to be certified with the Economic Dividends for Gender Equality (EDGE) global standard for workplace gender equality, the company announced. The EDGE assessment is the only business certification for gender equality in the workplace that is universally applicable across industries and countries. The certification process includes a comprehensive review of the company’s gender policies and practices and a deep analysis of gender data across the entire U.S. workforce of 10,000 employees. As part of the evaluation, L’Oréal surveyed more than 3,000 employees on gender equality as it pertains to recruitment and promotion, leadership training and mentorship, flexible work, company culture and equal pay for equivalent work. Since its launch at the World Economic Forum in 2011, more than 60 companies in 29 countries use the EDGE assessment methodology and certification process to create an optimal, balanced workplace for men and women. 46 Spray November 2014 The Alliance for Consumer Education (ACE) announced the launch of the People Against Inhalants Network (PAIN). The online community was developed to bring together parents and families who have lost a loved one to inhalant abuse. The idea of PAIN was developed by Sgt. Jeff Williams, ACE Board of Trustee and father of Kyle Williams, who died due to inhalant abuse in 2005. PAIN’s purpose is to build a community of support for sharing memories and stories about those lost to inhalant abuse. “Although none of us would have chosen to be part of this community, we now share an unfortunate bond,” said Williams. Members will be able to create a profile in memory of their deceased family members where they can share stories and pictures. Rexam has announced the results of its annual pan-European Community Can Challenge. Now in its fourth year, the challenge highlights Rexam’s ongoing commitment to recycling and its dedication to recruiting support from local communities. The event has plant workers from a number of European sites join forces with local communities to recycle cans and raise money for charity, while raising public awareness of the importance of metal recycling. The result of this year’s challenge was the recycling of 3.66 tons of metal, equating to over 200,000 cans or 33 tons of carbon dioxide savings. Rexam’s Ludesh plant in Austria won the Weight Prize for the greatest weight of cans collected: 1,764lbs. The Ejpovice plant in Czech Republic won the award for the weight collected, divided by average can consumption per head of population. Rexam’s La Selva plant in Spain received the Community Engagement Award following a number of successful community campaigns. The Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers & Distributors (ICMAD) announced its new Board of Directors.
