After announcing in April the splitting of the company’s household and personal care businesses into separate entities, Energizer Holdings announced that Ward Klein, CEO will become Executive Chairman of Energizer Personal Care effective July 2015. David Hatfield, current President and CEO of Energizer’s personal care division, will maintain his role as CEO after the split. Sandy Sheldon, VP, Finance, was named CFO. Barbara Lavernos was named Executive VP, Operations by L’Oréal, as well as the newest member of the company’s Executive Committee, succeeding Jean-Philippe Blanpain. Lavernos joined the company in 1991. Direct seller Mary Kay Inc. promoted Crayton W. Webb to VP, Corporate Communications & Corporate Social Responsibility. Webb will oversee media and public relations across all company operations in 35 countries. He joined the company in 2005 and until recently served as Director in the Corporate Communications department. Coty Inc. named chairman Bart Brecht interim CEO of the company following the announcement that current CEO Michele Scannavini was stepping down for personal reasons. Brecht served as CEO of Reckitt Benckiser from 1999 to 2011 before joining Coty’s Board of Directors. Valerie Barney was promoted to the position of President & Chief Legal Officer by Zep Inc. Barney holds a J.D. from Georgia State University and joined the company as Associate General Counsel in 2012. In addition, Jill Gilmer was promoted to Corporate Secretary. Ingredients supplier Royal DSM announced a number of appointments within its Personal Care unit. Joerg Richter was promoted to Senior Director, Personal Care North America. Frédéric Boned, current head of DSM’s Personal Care operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa will take over Richter’s previous role of Director of Global Marketing & Innovation, Personal Care. Floor Saris, Commercial Manager, Personal Care, will fill Boned’s current position, while Roberto Galli will take on Saris’s responsibilities in addition to serving as Manager of Strategic Projects, Personal Care. Robert Svendsen, II passed away on July 19 in his hometown of Hinsdale, IL. He was a Senior Executive at Broadview, IL-based aerosol products and packaging company Chase Products Co. for more than 32 years. He served as Chairman of the Board & CEO until he retired in 2009. He also served on numerous corporate boards during his tenure. Berjé Inc., distributor of flavor and fragrance chemical ingredients, named Terri Romeo the company’s new VP of Sales. With more than 29 years in the specialty chemicals industry at firms including Lonza and BASF, Romeo will be responsible for all of Berjé’s global operations. SPRAY The Procter & Gamble Co. (P&G) announced Vice Chairman Werner Geissler’s intention to retire at the end of the year following more than three decades of service. After serving in the German Air Force, Geissler joined P&G in 1979 as a Brand Assistant. His marketing work took him to locations around the globe before settling as Vice Chairman of Global Operations in 2007. He ascended to the position of Special Advisor to the Chairman and CEO in 2014. The announcement comes as Geissler was named Operating Partner of private equity firm Advent International. Additionally, Fortune magazine’s 2014 “50 Most Powerful Women in Business” list features three P&G executives. Melanie Healey, Group President—North America earned the #18 spot and Mary Lynn Ferguson, Group President—Europe came in at #22 with Deb Henrietta, Group President— P&G Global Beauty just behind her at #23. The Clorox Company announced that CEO Donald Knauss will step down after eight years in the position. He will continue to serve as Chairman. Benno Dorer, COO, Cleaning & International, will succeed him. Following Dorer’s promotion, Dawn Willoughby was named VP & COO, Cleaning & International. She has been with the company for 13 years and was recently named one of the most influential women in the Bay Area by The San Francisco Business Times. Nick Vlahos will take over as VP & COO, Household, Lifestyle & Core Global Functions. Vlahos has been with the company for 19 years and replaces George Roeth, who announced his retirement effective in January. The Estée Lauder Cos. appointed Marie- Pierre Stark-Flora to the position of Senior VP, Global Marketing, Estée Lauder.
