A meeting of the minds… In filler merger news, Toyo & Deutsche Aerosol GmbH (T&DA) is the result of a long and successful partnership between Germany’s Care Connection GmbH and Japanese aerosol contract filler Toyo Aerosol Industry Co., Ltd. The joint venture combines the two companies’ market and technological know-how into one organization. “Our goal is to offer innovative aerosol products of the highest quality and a full filling service to any company in Europe…” T&DA stated. Toyo Aerosol, headed by President Yuichi Takayanagi, is one of the largest contract filling manufacturers in Japan. It is part of the Toyo Seikan Group Holding, the world’s seventh largest packaging company, which employs more than 20,000 people and has over 100 facilities worldwide, according to the company. Christian Czech is CEO and 49% shareholder of T&DA. He told Packaging Europe, “I was born in an aerosol can! Along with my family, I established and developed the CZEWO, one of Europe’s biggest contract manufacturing groups, which we sold some years ago. Now I am purely dedicated to our exciting joint venture by bringing my knowledge and connections of the European aerosol packaging market together with the huge scale of Toyo’s investment and global reach.” The two companies started out in different parts of the world and gathered experience in the aerosol industry over the last 50 years. They first came in contact as competitors in the Japanese market and developed a mutual respect for the achievements of the other. A close partnership began in which both companies share the belief that the aerosol, as a formulation and as a packaging medium, still offers great opportunity for development and the benefits of the aerosol hold immense value for existing and yet unidentified applications. Following their vision, the two attempted to improve aerosol packaging and formulations and expand its existing applications. In this process, Care Connection supported Toyo Aerosol’s internationalization strategy, while Toyo Aerosol, with the assistance of Care Connection, continued the development of its award-winning DUAL packaging system, built up production capacities in Japan and made it ready for a global market entry. After five years of successful partnership, the two companies established T&DA on April 1, 2014. The company took over the assets, business and research projects of Deutsche Aerosol and made the plant in Neutraubling, Germany its headquarters. The company represents the DUAL packaging system in Europe and acts as a competence center for aerosol products and services in the European market for consumer, food & beverage, technical and pharmaceutical goods.
