Taking care of business… The contract filler industry had a lot of good news to report in the past 12 months. SPRAY asked fillers to tell us what was new and exciting at their home base, and reports were very positive. Retycol of Barranquilla, Colombia announced it has recently opened its new pharma plant (aerosols, liquids and semisolids) according to good manufacturing practices (GMP) and fully approved by the appropriate regulatory agencies. “We are adding three more lines to our current capacity,” explained CEO Franklin Zaydman. “We are adding more filling capacity in 2015 in order to fulfill our global commitment.” Projects include over-the-counter (OTC) aerosol 12 Spray March 2015 products for new applications and cosmetics, as well. Innovations include Dermafoam Technology, Novasol Technology and Natural Aerosol Technology. “We are pleased to share the opening of our new state-of-the-art facility and welcome everybody interested to visit us,” remarked Zaydman. With the 2013 acquisition of the aerosol facility in Querétaro, Mexico, Colep is positioned to offer competitive aerosol contract manufacturing solutions for the North American and Central American markets, according to Paulo Sousa, Colep’s Commercial Director, Consumer Products Division. The facility in Querétaro is currently under a development plan to achieve a total capacity for personal care aerosols of 200 million units, and only recently a new line was installed and validated to ensure a capacity increase of more than 200%. During 2015, all personal care aerosol technologies will be made available in the Querétaro facility from simple solvent based products to more complex creams and lotions, all using aerosol technology as the base dispensing system. The design of the various types of equipment installed is focused on flexibility, quality and safety. The year 2014 was one of focus, creating the right basis for growth, with the team focused on getting the process right. This is visible in the granting of ISO 9001 certification, said Sousa. “At Colep we believe that the business is about people and, therefore, our biggest investment planned for 2015 is the training of our teams, ensuring that the good manufacturing practices, the technology know how and the service excellence are available to support the industry in the growth path,” explained Sousa. “The training plan is supported by on-the-job training as well as exchange programs with other, already mature Colep operations.
