Summit expands in Wisconsin Summit Packaging Systems, Inc., headquartered in Manchester, NH, recently purchased and moved into its new facility in Racine, WI. According to the company, the move is to accommodate its expanding manufacturing base required to keep up with its continued growth in the marketplace.  Summit has been producing in this facility since the fourth quarter of 2011. It has found Racine a highly suitable location for manufacturing to supply the Midwest and Latin America, due to its proximity to customers and the highly skilled workforce available there. The plant currently employs more than 50 people. The new Racine facility is 175,000 square feet and has a full complement of injection molding, subassembly, and final assembly machines. Summit has greatly increased the capacity of all of these production units with the new building. The building has 30 ft. ceilings to 38 Spray September 2013 handle a crane to support larger molds and rail car access to receive resins in bulk for the molding department.  Summit has a new state-of-the-art extrusion line due to be installed before the end of the year, which it expects to increase extrusion production by 30-50%. The company has also introduced a “Layer Packer,” which has aided in less dip tube curvature issues along with less corrugate and logistic costs.  In 2013, the Racine plant will mold more than 1.5 billion components, put together more than 600 million subassemblies and ship more than 1.1 billion finished aerosol valves. In addition to Racine, Summit’s global footprint includes production facilities in Manchester, NH and Londonderry, NH—as well as plants in The Netherlands, Poland and Argentina. Summit looks forward to continued growth and expansion to better serve the global aerosol market.
