Next Generation of Tankless Coil and
Venting Technology
9:15am - 9:45am, Sun Valley (GP)
Roger Marran, Energy Kinetics
Consumers often complain about oil-fired
tankless coil boilers—they’re
inefficient, loud and don’t provide
enough hot water. These issues are
product-based rather than fuel-based.
This session will address the Ascent™
Combi Boiler as a high-efficiency
space and water-heating system alternative that
provides better quality hot water at higher
efficiency and quieter operation. It also addresses:
low temperature dilution air, a newer method of
oil boiler venting co-sponsored by NORA and the
New York State Energy Research & Development
Authority (NYSERDA).
Do’s and Don’ts of Propane
9:15am - 10:30am, Palm Springs (GP)
Curtis Reynolds, White Mountain Oil & Propane
Tim Jackson, E.G. Smith (Rhoads Energy Family
of Companies)
Propane trainers share
their experiences: odorant
loss in propane, lack of
odorant being added to
propane, excess flow
valves causing problems,
importance of cathodic protection, gas pipe sizing
done incorrectly, static electricity in the propane
industry, bonding and gas piping.
Gas Station Skimming
9:45am - 10:45am, Red Carpet Star (FOX)
Mark Solomon, Greenwich Police Department
Eric McKinney, Service Station Equipment
Credit card skimming at gas
stations using technology
to steal customer credit
and debit card information
when self-paying at the
pump is a growing problem. It costs consumers
time and money and undermines the public’s
confidence in stations that are hit with skimming.
Learn the specific technologies/equipment
skimmers are using, how to spot them, actions
you can take and how to report them. We’ll also
look at the growing threat of in-store POS
terminal and ATM skimming.
