Swiss start-up company Swiss Alpine Air is canning fresh air from
Switzerland to sell to residents of heavily polluted cities around the world.
According to the company, the air is collected from various locations
around the Swiss Alps and compressed into an aerosol can. It comes
with an attached face mask to assist with breathing. A seven-liter can of
air cost 19.95 Swiss francs ($21) and contains enough air for over 120
breaths, which is around ten minutes of use. It’s not the first time Swiss
air has been on sale. In February another company, Mountain Air From
Switzerland, started shipping $167 jars of fresh air across the world, taken
directly from a “secret location” in the Swiss Alps, the company said.

Since Oct. 16, households throughout Cheltenham, UK
have experienced a more complicated method of curbside
recycling, but in the good way. More items for recycling
than ever can now go into the nine full size trucks and
two smaller trucks (for those narrower lanes one finds in
England) with multiple compartments. There are sections
for aerosol cans, garden waste, food waste, heavy cardboard,
electrical items, batteries, clothes and shoes, mixed plastic
tubs and bottles, glass, paper, food cans, milk bottles, foil
and other metals. This means more work the night before
recycling day, but it also means much more can be recycled
easily and the new trucks are expected to be quicker and
cleaner than in the past.
Councilor Chris Coleman, Cheltenham Borough Council, who authorized the purchase of the trucks, told www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk,
“We wanted to make it easy for people to recycle as much as possible at their curbside, and to encourage them. There’s a wrap on the
back of the truck saying ‘we’re sorry for holding up traffic,’ but it should cause much less of a hold-up now if people help out.”
The Western Aerosol Information Bureau’s
(WAIB) 44th Annual Conference, scheduled
to be held last month at the Embassy Suites by
Hilton in Napa, CA was cancelled immediately
following the first day’s morning session on Oct.
9 due to the threatening wildfires scorching parts
of Northern California.
According to The Consumer Specialty Products
Association (CSPA), an overwhelming number
of its member companies, their employees and
CSPA staff have responded to recovery efforts
resulting from Hurricane Harvey, which landed
on the coast of Texas and Louisiana in August,
dumping more than 51" of rain and causing
widespread flooding. Donations of mosquito
and tick repellants, disinfectants, sanitizers, water,
food, laundry detergents and other essential items
have flowed into affected areas to help residents
with their immediate needs. Additionally, cash
donations made by member company employees
(with many companies matching funds) and
by CSPA staff will help with the longer-term
recovery efforts in devastated areas, said the
organization. Spray
