Wacker Chemie AG is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its Brazilbased
South American headquarters, Wacker Química do Brasil
Ltda. in Jandira near São Paulo. The company is currently building
a new multifunctional facility at the site for manufacturing antifoam
agents and functional silicone fluids.
Botaneco has opened a new laboratory and office in Lambertville,
NJ to help personal care product makers formulate highly functional
products from sustainable ingredients. The facility primarily serves as a
resource for formulators that require oleosomes and other components of
oilseeds to create new product innovations and improve upon benefits in
skin, sun and hair care applications, according to the company.
Firmenich has opened the Global Perfumery Creative Centre at
Singapore’s Science Park. The facility houses the Group’s teams for
Hair Care, Soap Bars and Detergent Powders, uniting Firmenich’s
businesses in Fine Fragrance, Body Care and Home Care.
UK-based Mundipharma has announced the positive outcome of
the European Decentralized Procedure (DCP) for flutiform k-haler,
an asthma treatment for adults and adolescents that contains the
same combination of fluticasone propionate and formoterol fumarate
(50/5μg and 125/5μg strengths) as the company’s existing asthma
maintenance combination, flutiform pMDI (pressurized metered
dose inhaler). The k-haler is an aerosol device with a breath-triggered
mechanism, activated with a low inspiratory force, which is designed
to make it easier for patients to use correctly. Mundipharma will
now begin to apply for national approvals and reimbursement in the
European countries covered by the procedure.
The Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs recently opened a facility
that will supply steam from biomass to the chemical park at Delfzijl
in the Netherlands, primarily for AkzoNobel’s Specialty Chemicals
site. AkzoNobel, Eneco and Groningen Seaports have jointly
invested approximately €40 million ($47 million) in the project. The
conversion to sustainably-produced steam means an additional 10%
of AkzoNobel’s energy consumption in the Netherlands now comes
from renewable sources, resulting in a reduction of 100,000 tons of
CO2 emissions per year, according to the company. Spray
