Beth Ludwick has joined the Consumer Specialty
Products Association (CSPA), as the VP of Communications
& Marketing. In this role, Ludwick
leads CSPA’s communications strategy including
media relations, digital and member communications.
She also oversees grassroots public affairs
campaigns and promotes CSPA events, products
and services. Prior to joining CSPA, Ludwick was
with Crosby-Volmer International Communications
and had previously led communications for the American
Association for Homecare and was Senior Manager of Communications
& Marketing at the Grocery Manufacturers Association.
Montebello Packaging has named Steve Tweed Eastern/Midwest
Regional Sales Manager for tubes. He brings to this post 14years
experience from Montebello’s quality department.
French businesswoman and billionaire Liliane Bettencourt, whose
family founded L‘Oréal and still owns the largest stake in the cosmetics
company, has died at 94. Bettencourt, listed by Forbes as the
world’s richest woman, was the heiress to the beauty and cosmetics
company her father founded in 1909 as a maker of hair dye. Bettencourt
and her family owned 33% of the company.
The Estée Lauder Cos. Inc. announced
that Olivier Bottrie, President, Travel Retail
Worldwide since 2004, will expand his role
to include the strategic development of the
company’s retail stores globally. Effective Oct.
1, Bottrie assumed the position of Global
President, Travel Retail & Retail Development,
continuing to report directly to Cedric
Prouvé, Group President, International. Bottrie
will continue to serve as a member of the
company’s Executive Leadership Team.
Additionally, Estée Lauder welcomed Michael
Smith as Senior VP. Global Information
Services (GIS) and Chief Information Officer.
L’Oréal USA announced that Michael Kingston
joined the company
Bottrie
as Chief Information Officer (CIO) of L’Oréal’s
Americas Zone; he succeeds Barry Gilmore,
who retired at the end of September after 17
years of IT leadership with L’Oréal. Prior to
joining the company, Kingston held several
corporate leadership roles, including CIO of
Neiman Marcus Group, Ann Inc., Coach Inc.,
LVMH and Castrol.

Robert Spanjaard, Founder & Executive Chairman of Spanjaard
Limited, Johannesburg, South Africa, passed away at the age of 80
on Sept. 25. Spanjaard is a manufacturer and distributor of special
lubricants and allied chemical products for the industrial, automotive,
marine, mining, electrical and household markets. It is also
a contract filler in the food aerosol category and exports into 31
countries.
Brazilian cosmetics company Natura Cosméticos SA tapped David
Boynton as CEO of Britain’s The Body Shop. Boynton, who will
replace current CEO Jeremy Schwartz on December 4, has been
the head of shirtsmaker Charles Tyrwhitt since 2016. He previously
served several leadership roles in French cosmetics company
L‘Occitane Groupe SA. This move comes three months after Natura
agreed to purchase The Body Shop from L‘Oreal SA for €1 billion
($1.2 billion).
Steffen Seifarth has been appointed Managing Director of the
perfume house Mäurer & Wirtz. He started his career at Procter
&Gamble in 1994, where he held various positions in the marketing
department and media sector. Seifarth eventually joined Coty/Lancaster
Group as GM in Germany, taking on overall entrepreneurial
responsibility for the prestige sector in Central and Eastern Europe.
Daan Thorn Leeson has joined Lonza
Consumer Care as Global Head of Skin Care
Technology for its Personal Care businesses.
He is a 17-year-veteran of the personal care
industry, with particular focus in skin care
applications. Prior to joining Lonza, Thorn
Leeson served 10 years at Avon Products in
various senior research and innovation roles.
Dimitri Panayotopoulos has been appointed Coveris Chairman &
Interim CEO by the Coveris Board of Directors. Dave Mezzanotte,
who currently holds this position, announced his decision to retire
and will assist in the transition period. Panayotopoulos spent 37
years at Procter & Gamble where he led multiple businesses and
served as Vice Chairman.
Robert Christopher “Chris” Gallagher has
been named as an Account Executive for
Charkit Chemical Company LLC. Since
2008, Gallagher has held an industry-related
position at Florachem Corp. In this
capacity, he was responsible for business
development in 16 of Florachem’s newly
designated territories in the U.S and the
Caribbean.
INOLEX announced that Ann Plimpton has
been nominated Chair of the Board of Directors.
In this role, she succeeds Conrad Plimpton,
who has served for over 36 years as Chairman.
Plimpton, a microbiologist, holds a B.A.
in Biology from Wellesley College, an M.S. in
Genetics from Northwestern University, and
conducted her Ph.D. study in Immunology

from the University of Chicago.

Obituary
Terrence “Terry” Malin Colker died Sept. 21, 2017 in Boca
Raton, FL. He was President of CPC Aeroscience in Fort Lauderdale,
a member of The International Sanitary Supply Association
(ISSA), and a Past President of The Southern Aerosol
Technology Association (SATA). He graduated from Georgia
Tech with honors in 1969 and then served in the National
Guard for four years. Colker is survived by his wife Elaine;
mother Jean; two children; two grandchildren and a brother.
