Spray Patterns AVA CARIDAD Editorial Director SC Johnson (SCJ) was awarded a 2015 Wright Spirit Award in October by the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy. The firm was selected for its commitment to preserving its signature Frank Lloyd Wright-designed buildings, including the restoration and opening to the public of its Research Tower. “We are honored to be a recipient of a Wright Spirit Award,” said Kelly Semrau, Senior VP of Global Corporate Affairs, Communication & Sustainability at SCJ. “Frank Lloyd Wright’s lasting presence on our campus and throughout our company has inspired a sense of adventure and creativity, and his impact is something we celebrate every day when we come to work. Our commitment to his legacy is SCJ’s mission because our histories are so intertwined.” In 1936, third generation SCJ leader H.F. Johnson Jr. sought out Wright for a novel, more modern approach for the company’s new Administration Building in Racine WI, which opened in 1939. It was followed by the Research Tower, which opened in 1950. The Administration Building is the only Frank Lloyd Wrightdesigned office space still in use today and SCJ shares these treasures by offering free public tours of its global headquarters. 54 Spray November 2015 Next year’s autumn-winter fragrance collections will feature opulent berries, a violet revival and the ever popular oud, according to the findings of UK fragrance company Seven Scents’ latest global trends research. Three key fragrance directions for the 2016–2017 season include Hedgerow Berries (a rich blend of raspberries, blackberries, blackcurrant, icy red berries, woody accords and oriental nuances); Violet (delicate florals, beautiful woods and lush leaves) and Oud (sultry musk). “Autumn signals a change in mood and emotion which is reflected in our fragrance forecast,” reported Kate Williams, Seven Scents Perfumer. “The move towards luscious berry notes and hints of vintage florals creates a sense of vibrant vitality and color, while the strong presence of oud for yet another season not only marks its transition to the mainstream, it also brings a distinctly modern edge.” Floodwaters in Texas have receded, but the biting bugs left behind are at their peak.
