November 2015 Spray 41 People in the News John Rieth has joined Pharmasol as the new Director of Operations. Previously, Rieth worked as Operations & Engineering Manager at Smiths Medical, Engineering Director at Dow Chemical Co. and at Eastman Kodak Co. as Engineering Director, Product Manager, Contract Manufacturing Business Manager, Six Sigma Program Manager and R&D Director. A mechanical engineer, he has five U.S. patents, an Environmental Award from Eastman Kodak, received his Six Sigma Black Belt and attended an Executive Development Program at Northwestern University. Luis Ferrandiz, VP of Operations, will be assuming the new position of VP of Technical Services. He will be responsible for new product initiatives, scale-up activities and transfer of development projects into the commercial operation. Ferrandiz has over 30 years of experience in pharmaceutical operations, engineering and quality. Hervé Navellou was appointed General Manager of L’Oréal France. Navellou joined L’Oréal in 1986 and most recently served as General Manager of the Consumer Products Division. Prior to that, he filled a number of executive roles within the Consumer Products Division, including Brand General Manager in Belgium and Germany, Director of the Latin America Zone and General Manager of the Asia Zone. Chase Products Co. named Anthony Albazi to the position of National Sales Manager, Institutional & Retail Brands. Albazi joined Chase in 2008, most recently serving as Regional Sales Manager of the Professional Products division. Chase also named Teresa Esposito to the position of National Sales Manager, Seasonal & Craft. A 21- year veteran with the company, Esposito has held a number of customer service positions within the company, and has since assumed responsibility for Christmas and craft retailer programs, as well as product development, new accounts and manufacturer representative management. Ball Corp. named James Peterson Senior VP and COO of the company’s metal food and household products packaging division. He joined Ball in 2006 as part of the company’s acquisition of U.S. Can Corp. Peterson succeeds Michael Feldser, who is retiring. The Aerosol Association of Australia (AAA) elected David Cowper its new President at the association’s annual meeting in Sydney in September. Cowper, who joined the AAA’s Executive Committee in 2002, is currently Technical Services Manager for Melbourne-based contract filler Ensign Laboratories. He has spent nearly 25 years in the aerosol industry and oversaw the expansion of the AAA’s training program, which has now trained over 220 aerosol industry personnel in Australia, New Zealand, India and Southeast Asia. Retiring President John Bigley, Managing Director of Jamestrong Packaging, will remain with the association’s Executive Committee, while David Gurr, Supply Chain Manager for Pax Australia, will serve as VP. WestRock Co. announced that John Fortson was named CFO of Ingevity, the company’s recently-announced specialty chemicals spin-off expected to become a publicly-traded company in early 2016. Fortson arrives at Ingevity from AAR Corp., where he served as CFO and Treasurer. Prior to that, he led the Industrials group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. BASF announced a series of personnel changes. Klaus Welsch will take over as President, Engineering & Maintenance at BASF SE. He succeeds the retiring Volker Knabe. The retiring Albert Heuser, President, Greater China & Functions Asia Pacific at BASF (China) Co. Ltd., will be succeeded by Stephen Kothrade, current President of BASFYPC. Uwe Liebelt, currently President of Project BASF 4.0, will succeed the retiring Friedrich Seitz as President, European Site & Verbund Management. Beate Ehle will succeed the retiring Ulrich von Deessen as President, Environment, Health & Safety. Finally, André Becker will succeed the retiring Wolfgang Hapke as President, Human Resources, Ludwigshafen; Manfredo Rübens, President of Finance, Ludwigshafen, will succeed Becker as President of Regional Functions North America, BASF Corp. Marc Ehrhardt, Senior VP, Mobile Emissions Catalysts, BASF Corp., will fill Rübens’ former role. Isabelle de Maistre joined Quadpack Group as Category Manager within the company’s perfumery division. De Maistre brings two decades of experience in the perfume industry to the position, most recently as Deputy Director General at La Factory. Thierry Sarfati joined Groupe Pochet as the new General Manager of the fragrance and beauty packaging company’s Qualipac unit. Bringing 20 years’ experience in the packaging industry to the position, Sarfati was also named a member of the Groupe Pochet Executive Board.
