People in the News The Alliance for Consumer Education (ACE) hired Brandon Karkovice as Program Development Manager. In the position, he will assist Executive Director Sara Stickler in ACE’s Inhalant Abuse Prevention, Stop Germs and other consumer-targeted programs. He will also help ACE undergo its planned re-branding effort. Karkovice previously served as Communications Manager for the International Association of Providers of AIDS Care (IAPAC). The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) introduced Ceara Flake as the organization’s Director of Legal Affairs, a newly-created position in which she will report to Douglas Troutman, ACI Flake General Counsel and VP, Government Affairs. Flake has served as a contract attorney for corporations such as AT&T, The 3M Co. and U.S. Airways. 44 Spray May 2015 Karkovice David Pritchett was appointed President of Rieke, the packaging business division of TriMas Corp. He succeeds Lynn Brooks, who is retiring after holding the position since 1996, the year Pritchett first joined the company as Business Development Director. Pritchett has since served Rieke in positions such as VP of Dispensing and VP of Corporate Development. Brooks will remain with the company in an advisory role. David Beaver was promoted to VP and Corporate Controller of Crown Holdings, Inc., responsible for the company’s financial reporting, internal controls and budgeting and forecasting. He will report to Thomas Kelly, Senior VP and CFO. Beaver first joined the company in 2010 as Assistant Corporate Controller. He previously worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Zep Inc. announced that Steve Nichols will relocate to Atlanta, GA to lead the company’s sales, marketing and R&D operations for its Zep, Zep Professional, Zep Commercial and other brands. Jeff Fleck, who currently leads the North American supply chain operations, will also take on responsibility for customer service and international operations. Obituary Joseph Pizzurro, former Executive VP of Precision Valve Corp., died April 3 at the age of 89. He was born in 1925 in Bronx, NY and received his Bachelors degree from Fordham University in 1946. He earned a Masters of Chemistry at the University of Detroit and while pursuing his doctorate at Purdue University, left to take a job at Precision Valve Corp. in Yonkers, NY where he worked his entire career, rising to the position of Executive VP. He was instrumental in helping establish the company in the aerosol industry and traveled the world to coordinate and manage global operations. He retired in 1990 and remained active as a member of the Board of Directors until 2010. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Margaret, in 2000 and is survived by his current wife Deborah as well as his six children, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Bell Flavors & Fragrances appointed Richard Nero as Senior Perfumer; he previously worked at Belle-Aire Fragrances and Givaudan. The company also hired Aaron Graham; he brings 20 years of experience from T. Hasegawa USA, Griffith Nero and Quest. SPRAY
