Gilbert Ghostine, CEO, described the new website as a celebration and renewal of Firmenich’s commitment to creative, sustainable innovation. Shin-Etsu Chemical revealed plans to expand the company’s silicone production and R&D capacity at its Thailand manufacturing plants. Originally established through a joint venture with General Electric in 2001, Shin-Etsu acquired the remaining shares of Asia-Silicones Monomer Ltd. (ASM) in 2013. Shin-Etsu plans to increase the facility’s monomer production capacity by 50% (35,000 tons), while at the same time increasing its own polymer production capacity by 40% (20,000 tons). The expansion will involve an estimated total investment of ¥20 billion ($167 million) and is expected to be completed by 2017. Shin-Etsu also announced its decision to establish a new technical center in New Jersey to develop new applications and help the company meet demand from its U.S. customers. The new technical center joins Shin-Etsu’s other two U.S. sites, silicone polymer production plants in Ohio and Texas. Spanish fragrance and flavors firm Eurofragance relocated its Turkish headquarters to a new office site in Istanbul. The move is meant to boost Eurofragance’s position in the local market and provide better access to customers there. The company also announced plans to open a new €2 million ($2.17 million), 10,000 sq. ft. creative center in Dubai, UAE by July 2015.
