a softer edge,” noted Pantone.

vivid and chromatic ecosystem, PANTONE Living Coral is evocative of

Berry Global Group, Inc. announced it has joined the Alliance to End
Plastic Waste as a founding member. The new organization is currently
comprised of 27 companies and is making an initial five-year, $1.5 billion
commitment to invest in solutions to eliminate plastic
waste in the environment. As a whole, the Alliance will
work with governments, multilateral institutions, companies,
non-government organizations and communities to
support investments and drive progress over the next five years to end plastic
waste. The focus is narrowed to four main areas: infrastructure development,
innovation, education and engagement and clean-up.
“This Alliance is different from other organizations in that it spans the
value chain,” explained Tom Salmon, Chairman & CEO of Berry Global
Group, Inc. “Brand owners, plastic resin producers, chemical companies, converters
like ourselves, as well as waste management companies and recyclers,
are all aligned towards a common goal of how we ultimately end plastic

Through 2020, the market for packaging coatings—including interior coatings
for aerosol cans—is expected to increase 1.9% per year to 60 million gallons,
according to Manufacturing (OEM) Coatings Market in the U.S., a study from
The Freedonia Group, a Cleveland, OH-based industry research firm.
Demand for packaging coatings will match gains in packaging shipments
through 2020 and will benefit from acceleration in the output of metal
packaging.
As a result of safety and environmental concerns, there has been a shift
away from solvent-based coatings and those containing BPA in food-contact
applications. This has also produced changes in can design. Suppliers of can
coatings have also had to meet increasingly stringent environmental requirements
related to the emission of volatile organic compounds from their products.
As a result, water-based, radiation-cured and powder coatings continue
to expand their market share.
