AkzoNobel was also presented the Environment Responsibility
Award from the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic). The
company was recognized for its partnership approach to developing
new value chains that enable substantial carbon footprint reductions
in energy use. This includes looking at next generation raw materials,
delivering value and reducing risk.
Finally, a large area of Brazilian rainforest located within one
of AkzoNobel’s sites is being planted with approximately 12,000
seedlings of species native to the region as part of an ongoing project
to safeguard the fragile ecosystem. The seedlings will replace part of
the existing non-native eucalyptus woodland within a six hectare plot
at the Tangará Reserve, which sits inside the company’s
Mauá facility in São Paulo.

Croda International Plc. recently celebrated the
commission of its latest investment at its Atlas Point
manufacturing site in New Castle, DE. The new plant is
capable of producing 100% renewable, 100% bio-based
non-ionic surfactants, which are active emulsifying
agents used in a wide range of consumer products.

was launched at the
Specialty Equipment
Marketing Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas,
NV to highlight the automotive uses of WD-40
Multi-Use and the WD-40 Specialist line. The vehicle
retains its original four-wheel drive, but gets a modern
spin with its hand-built 20" Detroit Steel Wheels,
Diode Dynamics Bi-LED round headlights, Distinctive
Industries touring seats and upholstery and twin
turbo V6 EcoBoost powered drivetrain. The WD-40/
SEMA Cares Boosted Bronco was auctioned off with
proceeds benefitting SEMA Cares, Childhelp and
the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund.
