New look for amika
Brooklyn-based hair brand amika recently revealed a full relaunch
of its product packaging. While the brand’s vibrant signature
pattern remains intact throughout the line, all products will now
be categorized by principal benefit and color-codified in custom
containers that will make it simpler for hair stylists and consumers
alike to identify products within the collection. All existing
formulas remain unchanged. As amika continues to expand within
the market, the packaging relaunch will better reflect its brand
aesthetic and mission, according to the company.
“As the line continues to grow, we looked to design a system that
would be easier to differentiate within the line,” stated Chelsea
Riggs, amika’s Brand President. “Realizing the impact our pattern
has had on the brand, we sought to strengthen its appeal and
positioning.”
The entirety of the packaging relaunch was designed in-house by
amika’s Creative Director, Vita Raykhman, to resemble a baton.
“There were many practical reasons to relaunch the packaging,”
explained Raykhman. “Aside from the color-coding to
differentiate our products, adding a variation of palettes and
treatments to our signature pattern works to enrich the aesthetic
of the brand.”
