The L’Oréal Group recently reported on its targets to significantly reduce its environmental
footprint. By reducing the emissions of its plants and distribution centers
by 67%, in absolute terms, from a 2005 baseline, L’Oréal has exceeded its target of
a -60% reduction in CO2 emissions, four years ahead of schedule, while increasing
its production by 29% during the same period. Furthermore, by the end of 2016,
the Group counted 15 industrial sites that have achieved carbon neutrality. By 2020,
L’Oréal is committed to improving the environmental or social profile of 100% of its

Connecticut Dept. of Energy & Environmental
Protection (DEEP) announced a
new set of standardized recycling rules for
the entire state on Nov. 15. This came after
a year of collaboration between the state,
local governments and the private sector,
including the state’s six main materials recycling
facilities (MRFs).
The new “What’s In, What’s Out?” campaign
is being driven by the RecycleCT
Foundation. Through the RecycleCT
website, residents can see exactly what is
accepted at curbside, as well as garner information
on how to otherwise recycle some
of the unaccepted items, such as aerosols.
SPRAY suggests the aerosol industry contact
CT DEEP to encourage it to include aerosol
products in their recycling stream.
Like many cities and states, Connecticut’s
high diversion rate goals have been running
up against challenges with contamination.
DEEP is working toward a goal of 60%
diversion by 2024 by focusing on waste
reduction, organics diversion and other

for us, going back nearly four decades,”
explained James Lomas, Sales Manager for
Arrow Solutions.

for a tour of its manufacturing facility
and a celebration dinner where Aco Kjemi
founder Tom Brunsvik was presented with
a special gift to mark the longevity of the
partnership.

On Oct. 18, Croda International
Plc celebrated the upcoming commissioning
of its latest investment
at its Atlas Point manufacturing
site in New Castle, DE. The new
plant is capable of producing 100%
renewable, 100% bio-based non-ionic
surfactants for use in a wide range
