World Aluminum Aerosol Can Award winners The International Organization of Aluminum Aerosol Container Manufacturers (AEROBAL) announced the winners of this year’s World Aluminum Aerosol Can Award competition. The panel of judges consisted of editors of leading international packaging publications from around the world. The award for Products Already on the Market went to Fa Mystic Moments from Henkel. The can producer, Ball Corp., and Henkel Beauty Care continue to pioneer sustainable aluminium aerosol packaging with a distinctive shelf presence, commented AEROBAL. The Fa ReAl is an ultra-lightweight (20 grams/ 0.7055 ounces) aluminium aerosol can that has 25% recycled aluminium content. The metal alloy is strong and light without affecting package integrity. Henkel’s Fa Mystic Moments in 150- and 200mL is now the lightest commercially available can on the market, according to AEROBAL. The lighter-weight ReAl technology helps achieve a product carbon footprint reduction of an estimated 12%. The first prize in the Prototypes category went to the Evolution Mini Shape, a can from Swiss manufacturer Nussbaum (branded with Nussbaum Sun Spray 50mL). The promotional format extends the portfolio of the Evolution Range further with a 50mL size for travelsized products. The ergonomically shaped profile offers an attractive solution for applications such as cosmetics, pharmaceutical, food and technical products. The photorealistic imagery is achieved with laserengraved printing plates. The Evolution Range is available in various diameters for volumes from 50–250mL. The Evolution Mini Can with its 35mm diameter is a suitable size for contents of 75mL, a volume that well suits new compressed can technology. “One can clearly see how our member companies are reacting to developments in the packaging markets and trends in society with ideas, innovations and contemporary solutions,” said Gregor Spengler, AEROBAL Secretary General. “The Fa can from Ball responds to global demands for greater sustainability and presents an eco-friendly product that nevertheless still fulfills the highest demands for design and appearance.
