Spray Feb 2015

SPRAYTechnology & Marketing Commentary Ava Caridad, Editorial Director While researching Valentine’s Day products online, I ran across a line of products that had me…well, not exactly spellbound, but definitely interested. It seems one can purchase a variety of love potions in an aerosol spray! Well, why not? We can get pancakes, sunscreen, cheese, bug spray, body lotion and furniture polish all in a spray, so why not love potion? jinxes; end domestic disharmony; prevent evil from invading mirrors; protect one’s home from vandalism by both humans or malevolent spirits and so much more. Unfortunately, despite so many products being listed, not one had a customer review that I saw, although consumers were encouraged to leave product feedback. I would have been very interested to see what types of comments users had for these sprays, and if they were perceived to really have an effect. 6 Spray February 2015 Cynthia Hundley Publisher chundley@spraytm.com Ava Caridad Editorial Director acaridad@spraytm.com Greg Dool Assistant Editor gdool@spraytm.com Montfort A. Aromatherapy on another plane... It seems there is a company called Indio Products Inc. out of Commerce, CA, that touts itself as the “world’s most complete manufacturer and distributor of religious, spiritual and mystical products.” They offer a variety of products: candles, oils, books, charms and perfumes, and have a rather large facility with 150 employees. The variety of sprays was compelling. They offer no less than 116 different aerosols with a plethora of purposes. Besides love spells, one can purchase sprays to win money; find a job; reverse hexes, curses and I also could find no information about who supplied the components or filled the sprays, other than the products are manufactured “in-house.” Still, I couldn’t help but be impressed with the thoroughness of offerings and the compelling graphics on some of the labels. These products wouldn’t be produced if there wasn’t a consumer desire and anyone who’s attended Friday night bingo can attest to how many trinkets some people have on hand to guarantee a win. If any readers have any experience with these sprays—in either their use or manufacture—SPRAY would love to hear your comments. Editorial Director
