Packaging Innovations February 2015 Spray 29 Noatec German manufacturer Noatec developed Flexpack, a patented new dispensing technology that uses a flexible, balloon-like pouch to generate internal pressure. When filled, the silicone pouch expands, building tension. The tension is sufficient to force contents out of the container when released. Flexpack can be filled with nearly any substance of any viscosity, according to the manufacturer, and has developed various compatible nozzles and actuators to meet a wide range of needs. Contents are protected by the silicone pouch’s airtight seal and the force element is fully functional for a shelf life of five years. The packaging solution’s flexible nature makes for nearly-endless branding and differentiation opportunities, including the shape of the outer shell itself. Spectra The new Ritorto Square from Spectra Packaging offers a truly unique look, with a 90° twisted profile on two of its four faces. The design of the PET-molded 100- and 200mL bottles provides not only visual differentiation, but an ergonomic grip for the consumer. Spectra’s colormatching technology provides a wide range of aesthetic branding options. CRC Industries CRC Industries introduced the Perma-Lock 2-Way Integrated Actuator, a durable, secure solution for aerosol lubricants and other industrial applications. The actuator will not detach, according to the manufacturer, and the flip straw locks into place, helping to prevent costly product recalls and ensure that it won’t be misplaced by the consumer. In the “up” position, the flip straw provides a precise spray; when “down,” a wide spray. Aptar Aptar Beauty + Home expanded its SofTips line of closures designed to deliver pinpoint dispensing control and cutoff for direct application to the hair or skin. The newest version can be used in applications requiring a 20/410 size neck finish. Two tips are available: PinPoint, a fine tip for targeted application; and RibbonTip, a broad tip for wider dispensing or more viscous formulas.
