BAMA Announces
2017 Award winners
The British Aerosol Manufacturers’ Association’s (BAMA)
has announced the winners of its annual awards at the
2017 Forum & Awards Dinner, held recently at the Oulton
Hall Hotel, Leeds, UK. The judging panel included Robert Fell,
Chief Executive of the British Metals Recycling Association
(BMRA); Lucy Cook, Communications Manager of UKLPG and
Ben Mitchell, Research Fellow from the Retail Institute at Leeds
Beckett University.
“I would like to offer my congratulations to the winners, runners
up and those who were highly commended and thank all
those who entered the 2017 Awards,” enthused Patrick Heskins,
BAMA Chief Executive.
“All of the entries proved to be of an exceptionally high standard,
which is testament to the skill, commitment and drive that our
industry possesses and its ambition to create a sustainable future.”
The winners in each of the four categories receive a £500
($660) voucher with runners up receiving a £250 ($330)

And the Winners are...
Aerosol Packaging
Winner: Ball Corp. for its Tactile Can.
Runner up: Airpure Dry Spray Air Freshener with “Press Fresh.”
Sustainability
Winner: Unilever UK in conjunction with Moravia Cans for their
20% lighter DWI aluminum can for Dove deodorant.
Runner up: Wear Valley Aerosols for its “Heat Exchanger Project” offering carbon reduction
and water savings.
Process Safety & Training
Winner: Swallowfield plc for its Safety Targeting Program implementing its hazard spotting
exercise.
Runner up: Alloway UK for its Low Line Speed Microleak Detection System.
Aerosol of the Year
×Winner: Swallowfield plc & PZ Cussons for their Sanctuary Spa Shower Burst
shower gel. It was praised for its functionality, subtle design and innovative color
matching between the gel and the can decoration.
Runner up: Church & Dwight UK for its 50mL sleeved aluminum Batiste Marrakech
Dry Shampoo.
Highly commended: Airpure was highly commended by the judges for its Press Fresh
air freshener product.
Special Achievement Award 2017
Tom Gilmour, Aerosol Chemist at Precision Valve UK, was recognized for his
outstanding contribution to the aerosol industry.
