Packaging Innovations MWV Amplify, the latest airless skincare packaging solution from MeadWestvaco (MWV), features comfortable, consistent dispensing in an easy-to-use tube, according to the company. Unique among MWV’s skincare portfolio, the “pump on a tube” technology combines convenience of use with bellow-powered, soft actuation. 16 Spray December 2014 Lumson Lumson SpA introduced P-Colors, a new, colorized version of its APP airless plastic dispensing system. Unlike its predecessor, P-Colors is housed in transparent PET, drawing the user’s attention to the interior pouch at work and providing the ability to see exactly how much formula remains in the package. The pouch, airless pump and overcap are available in a nearunlimited array of colors, according to the manufacturer. Aptar Beauty + Home Aptar introduced Runway, a new dual aerosol trigger to top personal care and home care spray applications. The dualpurpose cap gives users the choice between a standard, vertical “push down” actuation or the integrated trigger. The vertical actuation is intended for short, precise applications, while the trigger is suitable for longer, sustained sprays. Aptar’s Bag-On- Valve (BOV) technology allows for 360° actuation, making Runway especially suitable for sun care and hair care applications, and also contains Aptar’s twist-to-lock accessory. CoralTec A new device for measuring particle size, the D30 from Coraltec Inc. is capable of both sizing droplets and tracking how many individual particles are sprayed at once. Using an optical counting method and volume measurement device, the D30 analyzes a specific sampling of a spray and uses a propriety algorithm to extrapolate the results for the spray as a whole. D30 can measure both liquid droplets and solid particles as small as 20 microns in diameter, at velocities of up to 30 meters per second. With a length of less than 16" and featuring wireless capability, the D30 is both lightweight and portable.
