The family of DuPont™ Dymel® propellants provide versatility, performance and safety for aerosol packages, balancing regulatory compliance with proven product performance. For consumer and industrial products, Dymel® propellants can be blended together or with hydrocarbons for effective delivery of water- and solvent-based products. Dymel® A (DME) enables VOC reduction by allowing replacement of VOC solvents with water. Dymel® A has high water solubility and has great solvency. Dymel® 152a is classified as a non-VOC, allowing direct replacement of VOC ingredients. It meets strict air quality standards with a dry, high-performance spray. In addition, the Dymel® 152a low heat of combustion can reduce warehouse storage costs. DuPont also offers two pharmaceutical grade propellants, Dymel® 134a/P (HFA-134a) and Dymel® 227ea/P (HFA-227ea), both with Drug Master Files submitted worldwide. HFA-134a is the most widely used pharmaceutical propellant for metered-dose inhalers (MDIs). HFA-227ea has similar properties to HFA-134a, but has a lower vapor pressure which is predominantly used to lower the pressure of HFA-134a formulations. Dymel® pharmaceutical propellants are manufactured in separate cGMP facilities that are dedicated solely to their production. DuPont owns and operates its own production facilities and manages its own compliance.
