April 2016 Spray 27 AAF meets in China The Asian Aerosol Federation (AAF) held its fifth formal meeting in Ningbo, China in November 2015, in conjunction with the Aerotech Aerosol Innovation Forum, Awards & Exhibition event. Delegates from Australia, India, Japan, New Zealand, Thailand and host country China met to discuss a range of industry issues and were joined by representatives from the British Aerosol Manufacturers’ Association (BAMA), the European Aerosol Federation (FEA) and the Latin American Aerosol Federation (FLADA). Presiding over the meeting was John Bigley, Managing Director of Jamestrong Packaging and Immediate Past President of the Aerosol Association of Australia. The meeting resolved to allow “associate” membership from companies in countries that did not currently have a national aerosol association while reaffirming the importance of continuing to work toward the goal of association formation in several countries, including South Korea and Malaysia. Other outcomes from the meeting included agreement on the theme of “Safety” as the AAF’s focus for 2016 and endorsement of moves to rotate the venue of FEA International Liaison Committee meetings, including throughout the Asian region. Established in 2011, the AAF brings together aerosol bodies across Asia and Oceania with the aim of promoting the growth and prosperity of the region’s aerosol industry while also promoting the highest standards of safety and environmental stewardship. The AAF’s next meeting will be held in Tokyo, Japan in June.
