September 2014 Spray 37 continued from p. 16 SeaYu Enterprises’ Clean+Green natural cleaning products provide consumers with the performance and ease of use found in conventional cleaners. The Carpet Cleaner works on pet, red wine, food and almost any household stain and odor. It can be used on carpet, upholstery, sofas, mattresses and porous surfaces such as concrete. The Fabric Refresher is fragrance-free and can be safely used on fabric, leather, vinyl, plastic and carpet to help eliminate common household odors and stains. Both products are available in a 14oz. 211x713 can from DS Containers. For areas in which feline company is less than desirable, Boundary Indoor/Outdoor Cat Repellent Pump Spray from Lambert Kay functions as a training aid, helping prevent cats from digging through gardens and trash areas or damaging furniture and floors. The non-toxic pump spray formula applies in seconds and repels cats—or dogs—for up to 24 hours when applied daily, according to the manufacturer. New from Siamons International, Inc. is Simple Solution Flea & Tick Home Spray. The continuous spray kills fleas, ticks and mosquitoes on contact. The nonstaining formula is safe to use directly on pets and can be used indoors on pillows, blankets, carpets and rugs, as well as outdoors. Peppermint oil and clove extract give it a fresh, natural scent. The 14oz package sprays evenly in any direction using the bag-on-valve system and Twist-To-Lock Vail accessory from Aptar Beauty + Home. Also from Siamons International is the Simple Solution Platinum carpet and upholstery pet stain cleaning line that cleans and discourages repeat marking. The Platinum Odor Destroyer uses a pro-bacteria enzyme formula that helps eliminate odors and stains. Platinum Oxy Charged Stain Remover has a continuous power spray that penetrates deep into fibers to reach the odor sources with a proprietary odoreliminating formula. Platinum Foaming Stain Lifter has a foaming action to penetrate fibers and lift tough stains while Platinum Urine Blaster has a urine-specific formula and enzymatic technology that neutralizes odors and lifts urine stains. The products are dispensed with the new Runway accessory with Streamer option on VX valve from Aptar Beauty + Home. Room for improvement? According to new research from MeadWestvaco’s (MWV) Packaging Matters, a global study that examines how packaging impacts consumers’ shopping behaviors and overall product satisfaction, consumers are not satisfied with product packing for household cleaners. This is particularly important for household cleaners as the packaging and dispensing system are inextricably linked to the formula inside. Together, packaging can significantly influence the perception of a brand. Now in its second year, Packaging Matters examined packaging across 11 different product categories, including household cleaners. The data for household cleaning products revealed that just over half (54%) of consumers are “completely/ very satisfied” with household cleaners’ packaging. Additionally, household cleaning brands are over-performing on packaging appearance and underperforming on packaging performance, even though consumers place the most importance on various performance attributes, according to the report. Globally, consumers in developed packaging markets (Germany, Japan, UK and the U.S.) are less satisfied with household cleaners’ packaging than in developing markets (Brazil, China, India, Russia, South Africa and Turkey). Despite this, industry innovations, improvements to the economy and even minor growth of the U.S. population are expected to continue to fuel the strong growth of the home care market, suggested Euromonitor International. Product innovations, which are resulting in products being sold as premium, have upped the stakes in terms of convenience, something many consumers are unlikely to abandon. This shift in product packaging and formats will come at a higher cost to consumers, and thus drive sales growth over the forecast period, concluded Euromonitor. Spray Clean& Simple
