Good things come in ITW Sexton debuts Big one kilo Tall Can. packages… A one-kilo aerosol can in steel will finally be available in the U.S. as of early next month. Manufactured by ITW Sexton in its Decatur, AL plant, the new ITW Sexton Tall Can product line will be offered in two sizes: 211x1004 and 300x1006 (true 1kg can), as well as in a dome or step profile. Tall Can’s initial application with be for refrigerant R134a, but other applications will include other pressurized gases, hydrocarbons, vehicle care, industrial chemicals, adhesives and sealants. Tall Can offers a variety of value-added advantages, such as: • Pressure relief device (key advantage) • No pucks for the waterbath • Wider bottom without rounded base • Heavier base that is less top-heavy • Fewer substrate defects • 100% recyclable package • Applicable for 2P/2Q and several Sexton DOT Sps (most notably SP-10232) • Different packaging options and warehousing flexibility • Short run options (25K minimums) • Unlimited basecoat colors Currently, caps are provided by Cobra Plastics, Rackow Polymers and eStyle Caps & Closures. ITW Sexton will not offer printing services until 2013 and at present, decorative sleeves will come from several vendors. “This is an exciting and innovative new product—the first two-piece large format aerosol container that can be used for a variety of 2Q products, as well as for the packaging of refrigerants, high pressure gases and hydrocarbons,” said Yurij Wowczuk, General Manager at ITW Sexton. “The can may be outfitted with any of Sexton’s bottoms with pressure relief devices, making it truly unique and a one of a kind large volume aerosol packaging solution.” Step Profile Dome Profile November 2012 Spray 45
