International News Procter & Gamble (P&G) is cutting approximately 150 jobs in Spain and Portugal following the decision to integrate its hygiene company Arbora & Ausonia (A&A) into its existing operations. P&G said the plan focused on 300 jobs at A&A’s main offices in Barcelona and Lisbon and in its sales networks. P&G employs 2,500 in Spain and is expected to offer new jobs for around 150 workers, while the rest will be dismissed. A&A’s plants in the Spanish towns of Montornes, Mequinenza and Jijona will carry on operating without significant changes to their structure, P&G said. Recycling of packaging in France increased from 64% to 67% in 2011, with steel leading other materials. After three years of stagnation, this increase sets the country well on track to reaching the Grenelle law’s objective of 75% recycling. Success has been attributed to all participants in the recycling chain and their increased common understanding of the importance of recycling for local economies and the environment. LABLABO, French producer of airless metering dispensers, has opened a new production site in Juvigny, France, less than two miles from its former production site in Annemasse, bringing its activities together in the one location. Previously its operations were spread across three different sites. The 4,000 sq. meter site includes two new assembly lines for pumps and EasyFoil pouch bottles for the company’s new Ellipse line. “This now means a capacity of more than 40 million units for pumps, 35 million for the pouches (including 15 million for Easy- Foil) and 12 million for valves,” said Pharmacist and CEO Jean- Philippe Taberlet, adding that the company is also installing new equipment which will enable the company to increase capacity by 50%. A ban blocking the import and sale of animal-tested cosmetics products and ingredients in the European Union is expected to go into effect on March 11, according to a letter written by EU health commissioner Tonio Borg to animal-testing campaigners. The ban, which many beauty companies had expected to be delayed or scrapped, will demand that anyone who wishes to sell new cosmetics products and ingredients in the EU must not test them on animals anywhere in the world. The ruling affects all cosmetics products, including toiletries. CPL Aromas recently inaugurated a new warehouse facility in Indonesia with industry partner Brenntag. The new warehouse and facilities will enable CPL Aromas and Brenntag to manage large orders from customers in the Far East region. MWV announced the expansion of its pharmaceutical manufacturing Centre of Excellence, based in Hemer, Germany. The Centre is the core for MWV’s global pharmaceutical dispensing systems manufacturing network. The $7.5 million project includes expanding clean room molding and assembly capacity, and the introduction of a state-of-the-art logistics system to control the flow of finished goods and components. 32 Spray March 2013 Pair O Docs® Professionals L.L.C. www.pairodocspro.com Did you know?
