People in the News Steve Tanner, President of Arylessence, Inc. was given the Eric Bruell Distinguished Service Award by the International Fragrance Association of North America (IFRA) for exceptional contributions to the fragrance industry for a sustained period of time. He has been with the company for over 20 years. The award was presented at IFRA North America’s annual Spring Dinner. Neuma announced Chad Parker Law as the company’s new Director of Education. A graduate of the Vidal Sassoon Academy, he founded Empowering Salon Professionals, a salon and spa educational network in the U.S. Mario Reis was appointed Executive VP, Supply Chain for Coty Inc. Reis has spent the last several years in various executive positions within The Estée Lauder Companies, Inc. appointed Christopher C. Giglio VP, Corporate Global Communications. He previously served as Executive VP, Corporate and Crisis Communications at the marketing firm HL Group. Andrea Jung, former Chairman and CEO of Avon Products, Inc., was named President and CEO of Grameen America, an organization dedicated to helping impoverished women in the U.S. build small businesses. Since 2008, it has given over $140 million in loans to thousands of women. The Consumer Specialty Products Association (CSPA) announced three promotions for members of its executive staff. Brigid Klein was promoted to Senior VP. She has been with the association since 1993 and will continue to serve in her previous role of General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Kristen Power was promoted to VP, State Affairs. She will help to facilitate CSPA’s expansion in the Western U.S. and emphasis on state-level regulatory reform. Keith Fulk was promoted to Executive VP. He will continue to serve in his previous role of CFO, responsible for day-to-day accounting and finances. Danone’s Worldwide Operations division. He will replace Darryl McCall, who plans to retire by the end of the year. Beiersdorf AG named May Shana’a the company’s new Head of Skin Research, replacing Klaus-Peter Wittern, who will retire this year. With 20 years of personal care and cosmetics experience, Shana’a most recently led the research and development division of Ashland Specialty Ingredients. Pravana named Tania Kingsrud VP of Marketing. Kingsrud brings 12 years of experience working on marketing campaigns for beauty and lifestyle brands. She previously worked at communications firm PMK*BNC, with such clients as MAC Cosmetics, DryBar and The Honest Co. Colep Unveils Organic BOV Innovation June 2014 SPRAY 39 Jung Giglio Power Klein Tanner Fulk Colep recently developed a new base formulation designed for skin cream applications in Bag-on-Valve (BOV) packaging. Certified organic by the International Natural & Organic Cosmetics Association (NATRUE), Natural Foaming Cream with CO2 is produced using a mixing technology that incorporates CO2 as a foaming agent. The gentle foaming action allows the base formulation to be easily and safely absorbed into the skin, according to the company. BOV technology provides the formulation with isolation from the compressed air propellant and protection against oxygen and sunlight. “The base formulation will be commercialized in a number of new products to be released in the market in the second half of 2014,” said Ludwig Bastiaansen, Managing Director, Colep Healthcare.
