Spray Patterns BY AVA CARIDAD C roda Inc. announced that it will continue with its efforts in the area of sustainability with the installation of solar panels at its Atlas Point manufacturing facility in New Castle, DE. The $2.3 million solar energy project, expected to be completed by year end, will be located on a 2.5 acre open area on the property, as a ground mounted system approximately 775 kW in size. The unit will generate approximately 5% of the site’s electricity. Combined with the landfill gas project completed on the site in 2012, Croda estimates the site will achieve 60% or more of its total energy from non-fossil, renewable fuel. Additionally, this project will reduce the site’s annual CO2 emission by more than 1.2 million lbs. In the UK, residents who recycle aerosols and hard plastic bottles could be in with a chance of winning a share of £10,000 ($16, 675). Northumberland is one of five councils encouraging households to do more in order to increase recycling rates across the region as part of the North East Recycling Awards. Each month, one lucky recycler in each council area will win a prize to the value of £250 ($400). Paul Jones, head of waste management at Northumberland County Council, said, “We are always looking for new and innovative ways to help residents recycle as many items of waste as they can. This scheme is a great way of reminding people about some of the materials that can be recycled but they may not be aware of. “In Northumberland we have chosen to reward people for recycling hard plastic bottles such as shampoo and kitchen cleaner, as well as empty aerosols.” Residents can register online at www.recycle-more.co.uk/nerewards. Editor In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month, PRAVANA introduced a limited edition pink version of their classic blue Intense Therapy Leave-In Treatment, supporting the Beauty Bus Foundation. For every product sold at select salons during a limited time, a portion was donated to the non-profit organization—totaling $11,858. Pictured Steven Goddard, PRAVANA Founder & President (left) presents the donation to Alicia Marantz Liotta, CEO/Founder of Beauty 94 Spray July 2013 Bus Foundation. What more can we say? From the Old Spice website: “Odor protection in a highly pressurized metal canister. Men like stuff in highly pressurized metal canisters. That’s a fact. That’s because aerosol is mysterious. How do microscopic beads of antiperspirant/ deodorant ‘spray’ out of a nozzle, coat your pits and provide long lasting sweat and odor protection? Sometimes it’s best not to ask questions when faced with magic.” Italian company Orphea’s latest billboard campaign features an image of an aerosol can of Orphea bug spray, with invisible, non-drying glue used in place of the can’s mist. Over time, thousands of insects stick to the glue, creating the illusion of aerosol mist.
