AkzoNobel Surface Chemistry, Personal Care announced that Dr. Magdalena Biernat and Rik Houben have joined the Surface Chemistry EMEIA group as Technical Project Leaders for Personal Care Applications. They are based in Sempach Station, Switzerland. Jurlique announced the appointment of Connie Lim to Technical Manager of Global Product Development. She was previously employed with L’Oréal and Neutrogena. TricorBraun announced that Mark O’Bryan has joined the company as Executive VP, Operations. Alexis Perakis-Valat will succeed Zaumseil and continue serving as L’Oréal China’s CEO. L’Oréal USA announced that Angela Bennett has been named VP of La Roche-Posay. Avon Products, Inc. appointed Pablo Munoz as Senior VP & President, North America. He will oversee Avon’s business in the U.S, Canada and the Caribbean. He joins Avon from Tupperware Brands Corp, where he has worked since 1993. The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) has appointed Lisette Werbowetzki, CMP, as its new Manager of Meetings. Axel Dumas has been appointed Co- CEO of Hermès International. He joined Hermès in 2003 and will work alongside CEO Patrick Thomas for a transitional period, until the latter’s retirement at the beginning of 2014. 30 Spray July 2013 Biernat O'Bryan OBITUARY Mr. Bill Lueschen, American Spraytech’s Director of R&D and original founder of the business under PEL Associates, passed away on May 18 in Tampa, FL. He was 72. Lueschen retired from PEL Associates in 1999 after selling the company, which he set up in 1981, along with his partner Bob Swiatecki. When American Spraytech acquired the plant operations in 2003, Lueschen came out of retirement and rejoined the business, managing the R&D lab as well as heading the company’s new business development efforts. He continued working with American Spraytech from his home office in Tampa until taking ill a few weeks before his death. Prior to PEL, Lueschen served as Manager, R&D at American Home Products, where he formulated aerosol products such as Lueschen Wizard Air-Freshener, Easy-Off Oven Cleaner, Easy-On Starch and Woolite Rug Cleaner. He also held the patent for developing Pam Cooking Spray. Lueschen was also a member of various committees of the Consumer Specialty Products Assn. (CSPA), and served as a board member of its Consumer Specialties Insurance affiliate. He is survived by his wife, Beverly, and two sisters Bobby and Betty.
