Spain bounces back... 2012 statistics show 1.7% growth in aerosol production. Asociación Española de Aerosoles (AEDA) recently released Spain’s aerosol production statistics for 2012. AEDA estimated a total production for 2012 of over 272 million units, up 1.7% from almost 267.8 million in 2011. Personal Care products were up 15.2% from 2011. The big winner was the Shaving Gel segment, which showed growth of 52.7%. Also notable were Hair Mousse (43.3%) and Deodorants/ Antiperspirants (16.1%). Miscellaneous products experienced a marked improvement, up 11.7% from 2011. Leading segments included Food Products with a whopping 240%, as well as Industrial & Technical Products (25.4%), Pharmaceutical (20.7%) and Party Decorations (10.2%). Although Furniture Waxes/Polishes showed impressive growth (29.1%), overall production in the Household category dropped 13.4%. Of the 272.349 million aerosol cans produced in Spain in 2012, 171.811 million were tinplate steel and 100.538 million were aluminum.
