February 2014 Spray 25 Since 2000… When asked what has changed with the CSPA since Cathcart became President & CEO in 2000, he reminded SPRAY that there was no Product Care, no ACE, no voluntary ingredient disclosure, no ingredient dictionary and no Air Care division in 2000. Cathcart changed the name of the organization, brought vision and changed the focus from chemicals to products. Product divisions have become stronger. Product Care has evolved to incorporate the entire industry. Challenges in the next year include using social media to the industry’s advantage. “News is now disseminated through Twitter and the impact can’t even be discerned,” observed Cathcart. “People’s decisions are based on immediacy and this has caused polarization. How do we navigate? How do we get our message to consumers and legislators? How do we reach out in the future? Through webinars, e-newsletters, meeting apps, etc. CSPA will be driven by technology,” he concluded. New Board elected At the meeting, representatives of the CSPA’s member companies elected its 2014 Officers and Directors. Paul Siracusa, Church & Dwight Co., Inc. was elected as CSPA’s 2014 Chairman of the Board. Other members include First Vice Chairman William Auriemma, Diversified CPC International, Inc.; Second Vice Chairman Frank Pacholec, Stepan Co.; Immediate Past Chairman Bob Scharf, Sergeant’s Pet Care Products; Treasurer Adam Selisker, CRC Industries, Inc.; Assistant Treasurer (non-voting) John Abplanalp, Precision; and President & CEO: Chris Cathcart, CSPA.
