AEROBAL Awards recognize enhanced design and lightweighting... The International Organization of Aluminum Aerosol Container Manufacturers (AEROBAL) announced the winners of this year’s World Aluminum Aerosol Can Award competition. The panel of judges consisted of nine leading international trade journals for packaging and cosmetics. Tubex won in the “Can already on the Market” category for its Rexona Clear Diamond can. The aluminum can has a feminine and distinctive shape that’s gradually achieved by very small steps in the necking process. The black print, matte overvarnish and image of lavender lace give it an elegant appearance. The brushed aluminum shines through the lavender of the lace, which gives the design a three dimensional look. The logo on the upper part of the can has fine degrading of the purple color and a filigree contour in brushed aluminum. The brand name in brushed aluminum matches the classical design. Ball Corp. won in the “Prototype” category with its ReAl can, offering a metal technology breakthrough that uses recycled aluminum in the manufacture of extruded aluminum aerosol cans. The resulting new metal alloy exhibits increased strength and allows lightweighting of the container without affecting package integrity (see Recycling, p. 18). Spray December 2012 Spray 33
