At the State GAAC, an insider’s view was provided on how issues are developing in the legislature at the state level and what industry can expect for the remainder of the 2013 legislative session. In between meetings, members attended the business-to-business forum at InnoVention, where a total of 28 sponsor/exhibitor companies participated. “The positive responses received and capacityfilled meeting rooms experienced are testament to the importance our members place on the 18 Spray August 2013 Mid-Year Meeting,” said Cathcart. “Each year, we are challenged to provide even more value for members that attend the Mid-Year and it is gratifying to know that we are meeting that goal.” Aerosol Products Division The Aerosol Products Division program featured speakers on the theme Communicating Our Message, highlighted by media communications expert Teri Goudie’s presentation, “Responding to the Media.” Dealing with the media should be a constant conversation, she said, and an organization must be mindful of the three Ts: Twitter, Texting and Transparency. Goudie advised to focus on audience need (and the need behind that need); to speak top down, with the important things mentioned first; use support as currency (have plenty of examples, research, testimonials, etc. to back up your message) and to remember that problem + solution = results. Division Chair Bill Wood, President of Faultless Starch/Bon Ami Co., provided a comprehensive overview of Division issues and projects. These included California Air Quality plans and VOC regulations, California Safer Consumer Products regulations, and ingredient communication, which is here to stay, said Wood. Kristin Power, Director, State Affairs, CSPA West Region addressed the current progress of the Alliance for Respon- Goudie Wood Fratz
