Retired officials from those agencies, who now consult to industry, will be presenters at the meeting. Speakers will address the availability of raw materials feed stocks of propellant, steel, alcohol, resins and aluminum. Presentations will explore the availability of feed stocks, including information on global demands, weather, general availability, status of existing and future manufacturing plants. Adam Selisker, CRC Industries, will provide an update on the Low Vapor Pressure (LVP) solvent issue as a result of regulatory activity in California. Information and registration at www.easternaerosol.com. Avon Products, Inc. has completed refinancing activities, including the completion of a public offering of $1.5 billion in notes. The company also entered into a $1 billion four-year unsecured Revolving Credit Facility Agreement, which replaces the previous $1 billion Revolving Credit Facility Agreement. The Consumer Specialty Products Association’s (CSPA) Nomenclature Committee is calling for companies that formulate household or institutional products to submit their proprietary and non-proprietary ingredients, with their trade names and supplier information, for inclusion in the CSPA Consumer Product Ingredient Dictionary‘s upcoming Second Update to the Second Edition. In addition to being a key component for industry’s ingredient communication 34 Spray April 2013 effort, the Dictionary serves as a technical resource for both product marketers and ingredient suppliers, particularly those engaged in product formulation, regulatory compliance and materials purchasing. The final deadline for ingredient applications to be included in the next edition of Consumer Product Ingredient Dictionary is May 3, 2013, but early submission is recommended. Chicago Aerosol is asking the Village of Coal City, IL to annex a 1.5-acre parcel located on the southwest side of company’s plant at 1300 North St. The manufacturing facility borders the newly acquired property on three sides. The company is seeking to annex the home at 860 North St. and change its zoning from residential to industrial. Currently there is an unoccupied two-story residence and garage on the land and is in an unincorporated portion of the village. Wayne Arndt, Chicago Aerosol’s VP of Operations, told the board the company has no immediate plans for the property, but wants to move forward with the annexation and rezoning. Mayor Neal Nelson thanked Arndt for the company’s voluntary request for annexation. The Coal City facility, one of two in Illinois, employs 115 people. Ball Corp. announced that it will cease production at the company’s Elgin, Ill., aerosol and food packaging manufacturing plant in December 2013. The plant’s customers will be supplied by other Ball facilities. “Closing Elgin reduces capacity and, coupled with other changes within our manufacturing system, will enable us to maximize value in our existing business by supplying customers from a consolidated asset base and redistributing some manufacturing operations within our system,” said Michael Feldser, COO of Ball’s global metal food and household products packaging business. The Elgin plant produces aerosol and specialty steel cans as well as flat steel sheet used by other Ball food and household products packaging facilities. The plant’s 245 employees will be provided benefits, including outplacement and severance pay, in accordance with company policies and the effects bargaining process. Elgin employees can apply for open positions within Ball. Ball will report an aftertax charge of approximately $21 million for this closure, the majority of which will be recorded in 2013. Creative packaging expo Luxe Pack New York is adding more exhibit space to accommodate additional exhibitors in 2013. More than 150 exhibitors are expected to showcase the foremost innovative packaging in the world for all luxury sectors including cosmetics/ fragrance, personal care, food, wine and spirits, and fashion/ accessories. The additional 8,500 square-foot space, called The Gallery, is located on the second floor of the Metropolitan Pavilion and will house more exhibitors as well as the Seminar Room. The event will be held May 15–16, at The Altman Building & Metropolitan Pavilion in New York, NY.
